Hello! I'm new and I have a question. I always get sick with my period. That is, in addition to all the PMS stuff, my immunity drops and I get colds a lot. Have any of you found ways to help with that? Extra sleep and the traditional over the counter stuff doesn't seem to work for me.

I was wondering if this happened to anyone else. I had my last period from April 22-26 then 10 days later I started another period that was much lighter then my regular periods, but lasted the same length. I thought maybe this could be caused by major stress, but I am really not sure. I still have not started another period yet, but I know it will be coming soon. Does anyone else have a clue?

Subject:Early period on Ortho Tricyclen?
Posted by:0405.
Time:1:25 pm.
Hey girls. I'm new here & have some questions.

I woke up this morning with bad cramps & just went to the bathroom & realized I am bleeding. I feel like I'm starting my period, but I would be about two weeks early. I recently started back up on B.C. (Ortho Tricyclen, This is my first month back on it.) But is it normal to have this early of a period?

I've never spotted before, But it sure as hell feels like I'm starting again. I just lost my insurance, because I quit my job, so I have to go to planned parenthood to get B.C. So if I started, is it okay if I miss some pills, being that it's Sunday & I really don't want to go there when I'm bleeding?

I just don't get it. I'm trying to get my hormones back to normal, since they are really out of whack. So do I have to start a new pack or what? I'm so confused.

Sorry for all of the questions. I'm just really confused. Thanks for any help. :)

I haven't used tampons since Freshman year of high school, but I recently had to start using them again because I am taking a swimming class. I have so many weird tampon questions! For example, I accidentally bought scented ones. I feel really gross putting something scented into my body, is there anything bad about them except for the fact that they really gross me out? Also, on lighter days is it okay to use a bigger or 'super' size? I feel like that is a bad idea for some reason and since I have to swim tomorrow and am later in my period, I am kind of nervous about it. As if normal tampons didn't make me nervous enough!

Oh and also, hello my name is Jordan and this is my first post here. This community seems to be filled with the nicest girls!

i read yesterday that if you start taking the proper dosages of advil/ibuprofen or aleve/naprosyn/naproxen about two days before you're supposed to start your period, it will actually prevent you from having cramps. it will block the chemicals that make them start, and the reason they don't always work too well when you start taking them after you already have cramps is that that chemical is already circulating through you. i won't get to try it out for another month now, but i've heard from three people that it really does work (and they had been told by their doctors to try it out). i know some of us get the cramps of absolute death, so i thought i would share. (:

My period's late, and I want to know why. ::Sob::
My last few month dates: May - 19th
June - 19th
July - 23rd

This month I got a horrible cough around the 22nd, so around the 25th when my period didn't come around I wasn't so worried. Now it's the 30th, and the last few days (since the night of the 27th) to today I've had a fever. It's just dwindling away now, but it reached points of 103.4, 102.9. I'm just wondering, could this be a reason I'm late? I haven't been sleeping much lately, not to mention I ALWAYS eat horrible.

I'm extremely careful with my boyfriend, so I'm just trying to ease my nerves.

i came upon this article a long time ago and thought it was pretty interesting.
it's long and angry and full of profanity and it's great.

Funshine Bear, of The Carebears, was quoted as saying,
“I would like to see tampons become obsolete. They
make me sick, these corporations with their products
and their advertisements, their fucking lies. I don’t
usually use such strong language, ya know, but I truly
care about exposing and ultimately ending this
    shit…Fuckatampon!”

Apparently all paintings done by Vanessa Tiegs are done in her menstral blood, and protected with an acrylic gloss. She talks about cycling with the moon in her statement. It's really quite interesting. She donates a portion of her proceeds to The Centre for Menstrual Cycle and Ovulation Research.Which has any information you could possibly need about your monthly visit, including the stages in life and what we have to look forward to.

If you want to read her livejournal, why! here is the link!

first off, my name is diana.

i've been taking lexapro, an antidepressant, for about three months. when i first started taking them my period came about two weeks later than normal. i didn't worry too much about it, because it's been known to make up a new schedule every now and then. i talked to my doctor about it and he said that lexapro shouldn't affect my period, which i thought odd since i figured it has a lot to do with your mood and sometimes will change with mood swings, weather and stress. so, i didn't think anything of it. except that about a month later, i got my period on the day expected but it seemed to last a bit longer than normal. i had been on a shaky antidepressant schedule since i needed a refill and then forgot the pills at a friend's house. so i didn't take them for a few days and then once i was on a normal schedule of antidepressants my period started all over again. i had two in a row. i just wonder if i'm the only one that has experienced such an ordeal when taking antidepressants.

my doctor also suggested that i ought to start taking birth control pills and i'm unsure about doing so. what is your experience with them and do you have a brand you prefer? i was told that some birth control pills may affect my depression. man, sometimes it's confusing being a lady.

so here is the first entry in this community. i hope everyone who becomes a member enjoys it and will feel free to be completely honest about their experiences, questions, etc.

i am currently on my period and it feels good. i had been on the pill for almost two years and it really made my cycles a mess (i would bleed very rarely). now that i have been off a couple of months, i am getting my period regularly. i have recently decided to begin charting my cycles and health to get a better idea of what's going on in my body. recommended reading for this: "taking control of your fertility" (this book has amazing charts in the back and is very technical) and the very fun "vinnie's giant roller coaster period chart and journal sticker book" (my new obsession- comes with an awesome vinyl tampon/pad case!)

i also thought it would be a good idea to post some good links on the subject of menstruation, to give others insight on what's really going on:
    -the museum of menstruation"
    -the red spot
    -bloodsisters.org
    -myvag.net
    -luna pads

i shall post some more later, after i do some research on the web.
